Had such a great experience at Craftcation last weekend in Ventura. I signed up for Saturday only but even after my first class I wished I’d signed up for more. I learned so much from the four classes I took. There was such a great vibe–so open and friendly. Loved learning from indie DIY stars like Lauren Venell, Jenny Hart, Steph Calbert (she’s also from Long Beach–so stalking her) and Nicole Stevenson (she and her aunt her aunt Delilah are the team responsible for it all). They weren’t just super smart and talented, but also really funny. Also, had the pleasure of chatting with the charismatic Sé Reed, founder of {open} here in the LBC. Stalking her, too. Kidding about all the stalking. But it is cool to connect the dots on people I’ve been aware of over the years and see what a tight and supportive community creativity can make.

Even though I really wanted to take the class where you make your own skirt, I took all financial/legal-oriented classes (i.e., stuff I dread trying to figure out my on my own). It was such a good call. It was so much easier, and actually fun, to absorb this information with fellow creatives. My confidence level in what to do moving forward with the business side of Little Rabbit Print–way up!

beautiful Ventura City Hall where classes were held / totally awesome crafty swag / favorite of swag from we love citrus / reason I didn’t make it to the 80s mixer–could you resist the chance to watch the sunset with these two?
