I happened upon a cool little exhibit when I was at the Bowers museum of scrimshaw–a carving tradition of American whalers in the late 1800s who passed the time at sea making these intricate drawings on whale bone.
It was my inspiration when I entered a contest for a T-shirt design for our local record store and I’m so excited to say I won! Here’s the art:
